Business in the clothing department is very brisk ... particularly in the shoe department. In three months 80.000 pairs of boots were bartered.
Often the choice is difficult ... some are most concerned with the quality, others are more interested in smart appearance.
Many a wish is granted here, many a need met ruling out frand and Black Market - until one day normal trade will again supplant the barter-centre.

04. Sport in Three Countries
56.000 people watch the big football match between England and Wales in London, West Bromwich. England (in dark dress) with 16 consecutive international victories had had a unique series of successes, but the 17th brought the crisis. Already in the first half Wales gets the upper hand ... a good combination and a sharp shot by the Waleser centre leads to the only goal of the match. "Arlberg-Express" Runs Again
One of Europe's most famous trains once again wends its way through one of the most romantic landscapes of Europe. At the station of Feldkirch the flags of the three nations through whose territory the Express passes: Switzerland, Austria and France.
The famous Arlberg Tunnel, 8 miles long ... the gliding panorama of mountains, valleys, lakes.
On to the Tirol ... and to Innsbruck with its ridge of the North Chain Mountains.

Twice weekly the "Arlberg Express" opens the gate of Austria to the world - from Vienna to Paris.

07. The End Of Finkenwärder U-Boat Pen
British engineers blow up Fink II the largest German U-Boat pen in Hamburg-Finkenwärder. This demolition was carried out on a Sunday after the area had been evacuated and roped off. This pen, situated in the grounds of the "Deutsche Werft", accomodated 10 large or 20 small U-boats. Although "Fink II" was reputed to be air-raid safe, a number of direct hits had penetrated the 5 meter thick causing terrific destruction inside.

The cable are unrolled.
General Barker, Commanding General of the 8th Corps, and a number of other high-ranking officers watch the blasting. The time is fixed for 3.32 p.m.

That was the end of "Fink II". It has cost the German people 25 millions of marks. 8000 houses could have been built with this concrete which now lies shattered.

10. Horses For Europe
More than 200 000 wild horses roam over the prairies of Alberta, Canada. But for thousand of these Indian ponies and mustangs the life of unbroken freedom now comes to an end. Canada promised Europa - particularly Belgium and France - the supply of many herds, where they will be used to rebuild a ravaged country, help farming or become horsemeat for the hungry population.
Cowboys set out to roundup the horses picked for the shipping. The Elbow River is the rallging point. The great round-up lasts six days.
Chief Yellowhorn and other Indians of the Peigan vation participate in tracking down the horses for Europe. From the corral to the freight car, from there to the ships ... and thence on them to the ravaged fields of the Old World for whose reconstruction the prairie new sends her most precious possessions.
