06. Reopening Of Kiel University
A year ago this hall was an armament factory, producing torpedo ignition devices and drift-mines for the German navy. Rebuilt and reconstructed, it now houses the University Kiel which is being reopened here with a solemn festivity.
New ways had to be found for the lodging of the students in the heavly damage town. Many of them now live on 3 ships "Hamburg", "Orla" and "Barbara". They are also equipped with studies and lecture rooms.
Owing to this inventive improvisation 2750 students and girls untergraduates can already receive thorough academic instruction at Kiel university.

The accusation: Cruelties, miss-treatments, killings, beatings, tortures, starvation, abuses and indignities commited against civilians and Allied Prisoners of War. Furthermore the inflicting of inhuman medical experiments on helpless prisoners of the camp.
(No 1) The commander of the camp, Martin Gottfried Weiss.
(No 3) Josef Jarolin confessed to have ordered the shooting of 700 prisoners.

(No 27) Fritz Becher was declared to have been one of the most infamous sadists of the camp.
