Sweden, too, helps. From voluntary contributions by the population the Swedish Red Cross is supplying additional nourishment for German children. The beneficients of many areas - as for instance these here in Hamburg - receive an additional weekly ration of 2000 calories.

03. Nuremberg Trial:

Paulus as Witness
The personal appearance of the former Field-Marshal Paulus was one of the most dramatic incidents of the Nuremberg Trial.
Paulus was called as a witness by the Russian chief prosecutor, General Rudenko.
The Russian prosecutor asks Paulus to describe the German preparations to attack the USSR.
Dr. Nelte, counsel for the defendant Keitel, puts the following question to the witness: "with full knowledge of these facts you took over command of the army assigned for the assault on Stalingrad. Did you have no hesitation in thus allowing yourself to be made the instrument of a plan which you yourself considered criminal?"

04. UNRRA University in Munich
In Munich the UNRRA inaugurated a university for Displaced Persons.
About 800 students receive tuition in natural science, engineering, political economics and architecture.
The UNRRA provides food and clothing for the undergraduates.
Members of 18 nations are gathered here.
200 teachers and professors are on the university's staff.
The lessons are given in German.

05. The Unna Mine Disaster
One of the worst disasters in German mining history occured in the coal - mine of Grimberg near Unna, in the vicinity Dortmund.
An explosion in the Monopol pit buried 498 miners. Rescue work started immediately, but not more than 84 men could be saved.
German workers and British soldiers joined in a combined effort to save the victims of the disaster.

Part of the output is scheduled for shipment overseas, to relieve the desperate housing situation in Europe.
