In Godesberg o./Rhein is the 200-year-old historic inn "Zur Lindenwirtin". It became world famed through its hostess Aennchen Schuhmacher. Many generations of students met here to drink and sing. Pictures, photographs and the notes of the song "Keinen Tropfen im Becher mehr" are reminders of olden times. Postcards arrived, although the addresses sometimes were humourous. The Linden-hostess died 13 years ago. But the student's inn is still there with its comfortable rooms, the "Postwagen and the "Kälberstall".

c. School Dentists, Berlin
There are regular tooth inspections held in Berlin schools. The results demonstrate that 90% of the 6 to 9 year-old children have bad teeth. This perceutage increases with the older school children. 02. Avalanches and Floods
The unusually warm weather in January brought thaw and avalanches in the mountains. In Krottental, Upper-Bavaria, a skier was buried in an avalanche. a. Autos Climb Stairs, Prague
The longest stairs in the world are in Prague. A Czech motor car factory tests its new cars by a drive up and down these stairs. The same is done with motor-cycles.

Timber, Canada
Canada increases wood cutting for paper production. Here is a factory in Quebec. The sawing-machines work directly in the forests and the logs roll down into the river. From there they are shipped to the paper mills. Canada's timber will contribute to relieve the world paper shortage.

Hunt from the Air
During winter the deer in America cause considerable damage to crops on the fields. As the farmers cannot control the vast territory they have a new means of chasing the deer away. By plane they fly over the fields, frighten away the deer, and save their corn from destruction.

a. Exhibition in Lenbach Villa
Painting and Munich are unseparable. This year the Munich Kunstverein has its 125th anniversary. The old traditional Hofgarten Arkaden Museum was destroyed during the war. Now, after 5 years the first show is held in the Municipal Gallery in the Lenbach Villa. A jury decides which pictures are shown. Famous painters like Spitzweg, Defregger, Hans Thoma and Lenbach owe their success to the help of the Munich Kunstverein. During the third Reich these painters stayed out of the Nazi sphere.

b. The famous Australian pianist Eileen Joyce
gave a brilliant performance in Germany. In the Music Hall, Hamburg, she played the Piano Concerto No. 1 by Tschaikowsky, conducted by [...]jubomir Romansky. (Original Sound).

c. 3 Berlin Theaters
3 leading Berlin theaters have been reconstructed. In the north the former "Lichtburg" became the "Corso Theater" which seats 2,000 persons, one of Berlin's largest theatres. It was opened with the operette "Chanel No. 5." The "Theater am Kurfürstendamm" was reconstructed, too; a turning stage and good technical equipment make it the most modern theatre in Berlin. Then the "Summernights Dream" was staged. And finally the former "Metropol-Theater" was opened again. Now it is called "Komische Oper", and opens with "The Fledermaus". (Original Sound).

06. One Against Three
There are 90 million sheep in Australia and, of course, a great number of sheep dogs. But there is only one Jonny, the winner of manny prizes. Here, Jonny shows his masterpiece.
