At this stage, Persia has become a powder-barrel in the center of world politics. US special ambassador Harriman is now in Teheran to investigate the oil conflict as a neutral adviser.

A Demonstration of Faith
For the solemn climax of Protestant Church Day 1951, 300.000 believers from west and East gathered at Berlin Olympic Stadium and other meeting places. It was a demonstration of faith beyond the borders and an impressive closing of the numerous meetings and Christian demonstrations for freedom and peace in the whole world. After the reading of the sermon and the vow "not to allow the corruption of our children by idols and tyrants" the demonstration closed with the choral "A Mighty Fortress Is Our Lord."

a. German Youth to the US
In the course of the exchange program, 350 youths from Hesse go to America, where they will live with American families. They will visit American schools and universities and will work on farms. Up to the present, this is the biggest group of young Germans who will study in the US.

b. Baudouin Becomes King Of Belgium
After the abdication of his father, King Leopold III, Prince Baudouin became King of Belgium. As the representative of his father, one 20-year-old king governed his country for nearly a year. The home political crisis over King Leopold is now ended.

c. 2nd US Armored Division, Bremerhaven
The 2nd US Armored Division is again in Germany. The first part of the 15.000 men arrive at Bremerhaven. They were welcomed by General Handy, Commander of US troops in Europe. This division has been stationed in Germany before. The rest of the division will arrive soon in the Federal Republic.

d. Soapbox Derby, Hamburg
Up to the last minute, the home-made cars were made ready. Then 150 soapboxes started for the final at Hamburg. The great Derby of the little racers was an event which was enjoyed by the grown-ups too. 5.000 DM subsidy for education and a trip to America to the International Soapbox Derby is the prize. With verve and very individual driving techniques the drivers try for victory. The happy winner: Kurt Warncke from Berlin.

The picturesque Island of Torcello near Venice was a hunting-ground for photographers. Their objective: King Farouk of Egypt and his new wife Narriman. And now, by permission, a royal group picture for which King Farouk smiled specially.

b. Festival at Dinkelsbühl
The 1000-year old town of Dinkelsbühl in Franconia celebrated the old festival of the peaceful conquest by the Swedes. This event in the Middle Ages became a tradition which turns the inhabitants of this picturesque town into actors of by-gone times. A boys' band in rococco costumes belongs to the traditional rites like the "Dance of the Swords". From chronicle and legend came a pageant which transforms the old town for days into a great festival ground.

c. For the Davis Cup Germany Wins over Italy By 3:2
The weather was not always good, and the Iphitos Stadium near Munich was flooded. With blankets and burning gasoline they tried to dry the place but new torrents came down. The duel of the champions Cucelli and von Cramm had to be postponed. But then it became a 2-hours fight for these two champions. With admirable strategy von Cramm defeated the temperamental Italian. The technical mastership of von Cramm won the match. After Buchholz lost his match, the semi-final for the Davis Cup for the European zone stood 1:1. The double was anxiously awaited and in a dramatic match it was won by Germany. Cramm-Göpfert defeated the Italians Cucelli-de Bello in 4 sets. With his winnings of the last singles, von Cramm won the competition for Germany. The victorious German team will play next against Sweden.
